Pronounced an Eventful Day

It's been so long, since I packed my day with back-to-back occasions. So, I decided to put this into my open journal that I can refer back to it the next time me/someone else tells that he or she is "too busy." It also serves as a warning for people who loves to go to bed late at night. See how something bad is coming up? Read on.

Yet behold, this is going to be a long-dreadful-time-consuming piece of reading.

So my Tuesday began with Dave of my American family called in the morning to pick me up for driving practice in the snow. It was the first time every in my life that I had to drive on those icy, slippery roads. The ice-driving was okay, but a little more effort was required for parallel parking. So, there we took about an hour to drive around the town and practiced parking at the church premise.

When my two other friends from the university Christian Fellowship arrived at Dave's place, we proceeded to our main agenda of the day - remodeling Dave's basement. Since my dad is an expert in house renovation, I am not ashamed to tell that I am used to the "dirty jobs." And there we went for a few hours in the basement - from putting up the dry walls, to grilling, mudding (my dad used to call that 'plastering'), and finally removing the old and dusty carpet from the basement. And we finally called it a day after enjoying a few pizzas with the family.

Wait, that didn't sound crazy at all. Moving on, Kennedy, one of us asked if we want to stop by our friends' (Ariel & Mel) apartment for dinner. We did and had some delicious homemade spaghettis. The actual task laid ahead of the us was actually for the guys to help Mel build her new exercise machine. We thought it was simple in the beginning, Mel said an average guy will take about two hours to build that brand new machine. So we challenged it and said it will take shorter than that.

It wasn't long before we found it incredibly challenging to put everything together though there were three "strong" men and a box of tools. We noticed the box of tools didn't really help much so we drove Ariel's car to the new Wal-Mart at Sartell to get more tools.

To skip to the climax: we were listening to some nice Christmas songs on the radio, Kennedy and Ariel chatting occasionally, and Hola and I were resting at the back seats. Out of a sudden - we swear we've never seen it coming - the tires skited on a piece of black ice and the car went off-control. We all thought it was Jesus welcoming us to heaven, at that moment. And all we heard was everyone shouting His name in the car. After a few turnings - left and right, and left and right - we ended up ditching to the deep snows by the side of the road.

Thank God! No one's hurt and the car was stuck. While we were yet panic-ing over what just happened, God sent an angel. A self-proclaimed experienced man drove by and helped us to push Ariel's car back to the road and we moved on.

It was joy after that incident, we knew God was there protecting us. So, the shopping...blah blah and blah. We arrived back to Ariel's apartment safe and sound. We continued to work on the machine, and the last screw was tightened at 5:30 a.m. It took us 5 hours to put the machine together, 2.5 times longer than what an average man would have done so. But we were glad that we've accomplished so much for one night. And Mel now has to give us unlimited access to that brand new exercising machine. Ha!

Kennedy sent me home and I sled into that warm comforter at 5:59 a.m., set my alarm to blast at 9 a.m. And three hours later, I considered it a nap instead.

Wait wait, that isn't the end of the story - remember the sad part of the case? Here you go. I had my road test scheduled this morning at 11 and Dave came to picked my for practice around 10. We went a few rounds before arriving at the testing center. All procedures went pretty smoothly, and I prayed that God will grant me a pass on the test.

So I waited in Dave's car for my testing instructor, just like the other candidates parking along the reserved area. Similar to the Malaysian road test, I was supposed to show knowledge on the car equipments before driving off the road. Yes, I failed the equipment demonstration test. How funny, I actually fail before I drive. The reason being I can't find the 'windshield defroster" in the car. Sounds pretty acceptable because we don't event have that in Malaysia. Well, it was next to the aircond buttons. Well, I don't blame anyone because I didn't check the testing procedures properly online before I head for the test. I just hope that my next test, which is rescheduled to Jan 5, will be a better scenario. God bless me!

And so I dragged myself back to the dorm, put every part of my soul back together and now is sitting at the reception (working) and writing this piece of boring entry. If you have read till this point, you are really a great and faithful reader. I appreciate your time and concerns.

Well, people say "after a storm comes a calm." So I guess things will be much better after these incidents? So much for an eventful day!

P/S: I don't think the "fun" is gonna stop here, I am heading to Vegas on Thursday :)

Much blessings to you and your family, have a Merry Christmas and a Bumperful 2011 ahead!

Best wishes from MyLife | HisWay.
