BEFORE June 6

June 5, 2009, 2300hours.

It’s just hours away!

I think it would be good if I could pen down my feelings now before the once-in-5 years anniversary celebration that is taking place, in 15 hours time!

It is indeed great excitement I would describe. While looking forward for everything to take place, I feel that it was just yesterday that we started deciding the celebration date, putting the committee together, gathering boys & girls for performances, bringing in sponsorships, selling the dinner tickets, doing rehearsals, preparing the props and having the preparation camp for the anniversary celebration. Everything was just so fresh in my mind.

I enjoyed myself throughout the whole process. Even though things weren’t in place most of the time, I find getting involved in the preparation itself gave me a sense of belonging, that we are doing something for our beloved 1st Kuala Lumpur, together.

May be this is the way I want to say Thank You to 1st KL for the many things it had done for me.

God has never leaved us alone, yes, we will never walk alone. It was really frustrating when things were messed up, many tables not sold, committee has arguments, boys & girls are not doing well in the performances, sponsorships and advertisements has no reply, no time for rehearsals and have no one to do the props. But when we turned to God, He brought us through.

Let’s just talk about the dinner itself. We, especially the Officers and the Planning Committee were so worried because there were so many tables not sold when it was just a week away from today. The number of table sold by then was only 30. Two days ago, I was overjoyed when I read the email sent by our Hon. Captain saying that we had exceeded the targeted number of tables for the dinner. As of today, there are over 80 tables all in all.

“Hallelujah!” That’s the only word shouting from my heart.

I do not know what are the surprises that God as installed for us tomorrow, but I’m definitely looking forward to it. No matter what is going to happen ahead, I am already grateful for all that God has done for us. For me, having gone through the whole preparation from Day 1 itself is already the “celebration” that I am looking for. It is nothing better than being able to join the brothers (& sisters) in the Brigades to make this 55th a realized dream.

Tomorrow, it will be the Grand Finale, a coma marking the resolution of our celebration. It is never a full stop for us. Our dreams and passions will not cool down. We are going to marching together, moving forward to the next 5 years, 10 years, and centuries to come!

I can’t wait to shout to the world: “We’re 55!”
