*Class ended early due to test*
*Waiting for friends to go lunch*
I'm in the library now. Supposed to do some revision for the next test for Theories of Personality this coming Wednesday. But, something just got stuck in my mind and I just wanna express it over here.
Never blame your teacher/lecturer for not organizing class/notes/test well for YOU while YOU didn't make the effort to get things organized.
I arrived early to class today to prepare myself for the Issues & Ethics Test 1. Other students arrived gradually thereafter. Suddenly, there's this little lady's voice that caught my attention, so I listened (she was sitting behind me, I pretended studying my notes).
Lady: Hey, did you receive the slides (powerpoint) for the last chapter 2? (she was asking the girl next to her)
Me: I did receive it from email when I last checked it yesterday.
Lady: I didn't receive it lar! What about the course outline? I don't have also.
Me: Har? I thought that I got it from the lecturer's lapotop on the 1st class itself.
Lady: Sigh, I really don't know what is she (the lecturer) doing! She's so disorganized!
Me: As in, how?
Lady: She always send in the slides so late, I cant do revision for today's test!
Me: You sendiri never go find out!
Lady: I really dont like the way she teach.
Me: I find it OK. As long as you keep yourself alert in class and do read the text book on your own!
Lady: And about the text book...
Me: Hmm?
Lady she never even tell us which text book to use!
Me: What the...the whole world know which textbook to use lar!
The Girl next to me: (Turn around and tell her): Got la, use this one.
Me: Haha!
Lady: But she never order it for us!
Me: Is that her (lecturer) responsibility to get the books for the students? I always thought students have to go check it out once the lecturer announce the textbook that we should use.
Lady: Sigh...
Me: Speechless...
I was so angry, for the sake of the lecturer. I think the lecturer has sneezed a lot this morning.
But, I just don't understand why these people can be so dependent. Looking at her, she is most likely elder than me. But, looking at the way she complained about the lecturer and stuff makes me feel that she is nothing better than a primary school girl.
My humble instinct tells me that all of us must learn to be independent. We must not rely on the lecturer to spoon feed us for all the notes, text, slides, etc. That's not learning! Learning should be a process involved some effort of your own to find out what's what.
Textbook: I borrowed it from the lecturer and photocopied once I know that the book is not available in the book store. (It is unethical, don't follow. But at least I got myself what I need!)
Slides & Notes: I keep a folder that keeps all the slides and notes from the lecturer. I make sure I'm in the emailing list managed by the class monitor to send us and class-related documents.
Others: Pay attention in class! This lady that I mentioned, she sat beside me last 2 weeks, she was the first person I ever seen talking non-stop throughout the whole 3-hour-lesson. OMG. And she complained!!
Alright, fine releasing all my insides. Just felt bad for the lecturer.
