Alien prequel-not one but two! why?

Yep you heard sci-fi fans. "Aline" is getting not one but two prequels! I personally think that's a terrible idea. What made alien such an amazing and scary foe, was the fact we knew nothing about it before.  Space Jockey was splattered for years till Dallas et al discovered the floow filled with alien eggs.
