New Stage in BB

3rd of January 2009 is a very significant date in my journey with the Boys Brigade. It was the day I last wore the red sash, serving as a Sergeant in the company. Yes, Sai Hong, Kar Hoe and I were together appointed to be Staff Sergeants on that day during dismissal.

Turning from red into blue, it was totally a new stage, a new position and new responsibilities put unto us. It also mean to step half a leg into the Officers' Council already. Looking back at the past 5 years, everything that we had done was really precious. If given a choice, I really wish that we could remain in the Senior Section a little longer.

However, the current "crisis" faced by the company (I supposed the other companies too) had forced us to take up multi roles both in the Juniors and Seniors. For instance, the SSGTs who were assigned to the Juniors and Pre-juniors are still active in the Senior Band Council as well as the NCO Council. It is due to the lack of leaders. Thus, I strongly urge the school leavers to come back and serve in the BB. BB is not just another uniformed body like any other bodies out there. As a voluntary movement, BB has the constant need for continuous leadership. If the Boys decide to leave after school, then BB may face the issue of downfall.

BB keeps our path straight, as Madame Wendy has always spoken: BB doesn't need you, you need BB. If you have been in the Brigade circle long enough, you will find the saying very true. This is also why we always tell others that we have the "Blue blood" flowing inside us.

A simple sash, but very significant to me. It simply means a commitment to serve.

Friends, it is all about being together, being there for each other all the times.
