Disaster is back

Yeah, it is back. After returning to college for my first week in 2009, assignments are starting to knock on my door again. Sigh.

But life is getting happier, even though the subjects for this semester is kinda heavy:
-American Civilization (History)
-Intercultural communications
-Biology Science
-Statistics
-Survey of TV

Realised that there is no Psychology subjects this sem, giving it a rest. Will be focusing on Communications this round.

Another disaster that happens every beginning of semester is again - textbooks. So far for 2 second-handed textbooks, I've spent RM 70.00. oh God, I want free textbooks!

CNY is near, TOEFL is nearer! This Saturday will be the test day for TOEFL and I have not even tried the exercises. Lazy me.

Just realised that I haven't made my new year resolution >.<"
Okay here it goes:
1. Maintaining CGPA at 3.90 and above.
2. Transfer into the US State Univeristy with scholarships.
3. Introduce 2 non-believers to Christianity.
4. Maintaining good relationship with Loved ones: Family, Friends and people around.
5. Earn > RM250 per month on my own.
6. Continue to serve faithfully in 1st Kuala Lumpur BB Company.

So be it.

New Stage in BB

3rd of January 2009 is a very significant date in my journey with the Boys Brigade. It was the day I last wore the red sash, serving as a Sergeant in the company. Yes, Sai Hong, Kar Hoe and I were together appointed to be Staff Sergeants on that day during dismissal.

Turning from red into blue, it was totally a new stage, a new position and new responsibilities put unto us. It also mean to step half a leg into the Officers' Council already. Looking back at the past 5 years, everything that we had done was really precious. If given a choice, I really wish that we could remain in the Senior Section a little longer.

However, the current "crisis" faced by the company (I supposed the other companies too) had forced us to take up multi roles both in the Juniors and Seniors. For instance, the SSGTs who were assigned to the Juniors and Pre-juniors are still active in the Senior Band Council as well as the NCO Council. It is due to the lack of leaders. Thus, I strongly urge the school leavers to come back and serve in the BB. BB is not just another uniformed body like any other bodies out there. As a voluntary movement, BB has the constant need for continuous leadership. If the Boys decide to leave after school, then BB may face the issue of downfall.

BB keeps our path straight, as Madame Wendy has always spoken: BB doesn't need you, you need BB. If you have been in the Brigade circle long enough, you will find the saying very true. This is also why we always tell others that we have the "Blue blood" flowing inside us.

A simple sash, but very significant to me. It simply means a commitment to serve.

Friends, it is all about being together, being there for each other all the times.

2009 in Action

HELLO!

I guess this could be the only way to greet all readers in this super-duper belated new year post. Life is just so unpredictable, before I could post any entry for this year, so many things came up and was bothering me.

**********

Anyway, another great year has passed and the new 2009 had just reported in. Looking back at the past 366 days, many memories strike my mind.

2008 January - I've celebrated new year with a group of people whom I do not know in NS (to be specific, at the mamak stall), in which later we became good friends.

February & March - Lived a scheduled life in NS. ~Eat - sleep - eat - sleep~.

April - Entered college, the most remarkable month because it was the time I've decided to enter the American Degree Programme, which I am still very excited with. Moved into college hostel.

May - This was the month that me and my other fellow BB friends re-committed ourselves into the BB service. This was also the time I had my first contact with a car, started driving lessons. It was really a fun thing learning to drive.

June - Got my driving license! BB KL State Drill competition, a challenge to me and my fellow squad members. From stretch we form our team and practiced real hard towards the competition. We managed to win as the 1st-runner up and I was glad to achieve one of my dreams in the BB: becoming the Best Commander.

July - Attended SEGi Leadership Camp (SLC), one of the best memories I had with my coursemates. We had never been working so close and together. We managed to tighten our friendship and relationship with one another.

August - BB Function at Genting Highlands: played really crazily with BB boys. Attended Emerge 08 at Sunway Convention center, experienced the biggest Christian event in my life.

September - Studies > Assignments > Studies > Exams

October - BB Retreat, first time combining with YCC ever since the first time I became NCO in 2005.

November - Lots of college activities: Talkshow, Global Music Carnival, Waterfall outing, Christmas party...

December - Attended college's commencement. Completed Freshman year!

**********

As mentioned, life is so unpredictable. As I was happily preparing myself to come back to college last week after enjoying myself so much for the past holidays, I was contacted Dengue Fever started from the last day of my break. And I was then admitted to Pantai Hospital for 5 days. Life in the hospital was really dreadful, but with all your prayers and support, and visitations, it had made life not as bad as hell.

However, one thing that have made me feel rather relief is my 3rd semester's result: Praise the Lord for He has helped me to achieve another 5As and 1B, maintaining my CGPA at 3.89 points.

I hope 2009 will be another great year as there are so many major decisions to be made but above all, God will take charge, AMEN!

The 1st Fiftieth post. Peace.
