These events did not carry any extra marks in my academics. However, now, what ever you do here in college, be it a Psychology Day, Debate, Talk Show, Showcase, Musical carnival, Inter-cultural Carnival or even Field Trips are all important events because they contribute big portion of marks to all your subjects. Sometimes, I admit that it is stressful to organize these events or activities. But, on the other hand, I do enjoy carrying out these activities. It is the reason I prefer the American Degree styles. Students are assessed both in curriculums and co-curriculums activities. It provides a chance for all students to work things out "hands-on" rather than just sitting behind the study table and memorizing facts. There are also clubs and societies that students join not because of the 'marks'. However, they still contribute because active students have a higher chance in getting scholarships.
Many have asked me, why do I still involved with the Boys Brigade even though I do not really "need" them. I do ask myself the question too. But, I've always come to the same conclusion: I want to join BB not because they need me, but I need them. Contradicting? BB allows me to serve God, BB allows me to help and teach the younger ones, BB allows me to learn about God, BB allows me to spend time with my fellow friends, BB allows me to learn how to lead or influence, BB allows me to fail, BB allows me succeed and BB allows me to change.
It's been quite a while since I am writting my feelings. I get to have time and write here because the 2 papers coming are 2 days later. =)
