Happines is a choice

I came across this book - "Your Best Life Now: 7 Steps To Living At Your Full Potential" by Joel Osteen, a prestige senior pastor at Lakewood Church, Texas.

I was supposed to return this book from a friend to my cell group leader, so before I saw her on Sunday I took a glance at the book. I was very attracted to his writing, especially on the topic of happiness.

I see a lot of the so-called "emo" post/status update on the Facebook everyday. Whether or not those are the true voices from these facebookers, I still take them as they are. It always strikes my mind, thinking if God is really fair to everyone.

If so, why are there people who worked hard didn't get reasonable payback whilst those who cheat around will get their hands on what they crave for?

My inner soul speaks of God is fair.

Reason being, we cannot use our tiny-little-sinful-immature-reckless-Godmade-human-mind to measure God's mind. Our understanding of God's intention and plans is never comparable to God Himself - just like a dust in the galaxy.

Who are we to judge if God, our maker, is doing it right or wrong for our lives?
In what authority a computer can say Adobe is more creative than the human's, its inventor?

What I really want to convey is that Happiness Is A Choice. While we are ranting about how bad our lives have turned out each day, why not set aside time to appreciate things in the present. The U.S. Census Bureau 2009 reported 1.8 death every second worldwide. That gives more than 100 deaths per minute and 150,000 deaths per day!

Now, say a simple prayer to thank God that you are still alive reading this statistic.

Choose a happy lifestyle. Choose to be happy. Make others happy. Just be happy.

I've heard so many times that "when life gives you lemon, make lemonade." Now, be happy that you at least get a lemon. So many people outside will have to hunt for lemons. So, complain less, and appreciate more. In that way, you will find that life is not so hard on you anymore.

Friends, never be down. Give yourself a good smile in the mirror each morning. For the rest of your day, find your happy channels and live a life that is fulfilling.

Cheers, may today be your breakthrough!

Gray Matters

Many things in life don't have to be of concrete true or false. Sometimes, the matter of right lies between black and white - yes, the gray.

I find that life is too broad for us to completely understand its true mechanism. Relationships, career and success, happiness and health, most of these are not within our control. The more I try to get hold of my own life, the more worse things come in the way.

We must learn to submit to the One who has greater power, who sits above at the throne of heaven.

It's been two and a half month since my return and I will be leaving again in two weeks. Besides the greater friendship and loving relationships I have gained, what I could remember for this summer is that life keeps moving forward.

I am constantly reminded by things that had happened, that it is always too late for me to turn around and sigh. All I can do is to keep moving forth, challenging myself to do even better in every aspect I pursue.

One more day for internship! I really wanna thank Mr. Terence Yap and Creative Thumbprint for this opportunity of industrial training. I daresay I have learned a lot about branding strategies and advertising. Though it is not closely related to my career as a broadcast journalist, I have learned better writing skills, especially in copywriting.

Gladly, I look forward to the 14 more days left for me and Malaysia. I pray more wonderful things will take place in this period of time.

Cheerios.

A new Judge Dredd??

Yeah! Now that’s something I am genuinely excited! Karl Urban may be in fact the new and improved Judge Dredd! Remember the film in which Stallone starred as the badass Judge? Personally I do not consider it that bad but the character had his helmet r ved in the wh  film while the performances weren’t that great. Still, it had enough action and vi nce as well as that Bad-ass scary robot! Now it

Inception review- Mindfuck or clever film maze?

I saw "Inception" in glorious IMAX. That's the way it should be watched. Please do not go and see it in a simple screen or else you are stupid. Its visuals deserve better than that! But first things first. Is the film original? Yes and no. Now all the critics worldwide have classified "Inception" a masterpiece, a clever thriller, a surprisingly unique heist film and a modern gem. Do not get me

New Thor pic!

Take a look at this pic. It reveals Asgard's palace with Odin (Antony Hopkins) in the throne while his son (Thor-Chris Hemsworth) is kneeled before him. Looks elaborate ,well designed and the costumes have the proper viking feeling. However, i have heard that they are post coverting the film in 3-D so prepare for epic fail. I will see only the 2-D version. Enough with the 3D crap. What do you

Time for Bonding

Oh my, it's been a looong weekend for Boot Camp and BB to take place. Congratulations to the newly promoted Privates! You are no longer the newbies in the company and on behalf on the Officers' Council I wish you all the best and an utmost enjoyable journey with 1st KL.

I have not helped much in the overall running of the camp but there just to support the Boys. I must say this was the most relaxing camp I've ever been to, where most of the time I really feel useless because the committee has done such an excellent job that I don't have to step in for any interference.

Every camp is a good time for bonding. I am sure every Boy have now known one another better.

I also get to know some Boys better through the camp. I guess this is really what we called a sense of brotherhood. I think I am so gonna miss my juniors when I have to leave for the States again.

Well, like a Boy said, it was really like a holiday this weekend. To me, I felt so relieved from work and daily routine. A camp like that is something that I indeed look forward to.

Apparently, my internship is left with only a week to go. Can't believe that two months have just passed, just like a blink of eye. Life is indeed like a ride on a bullet train!

Cheers.

Getting Excited

The more you praise and celebrate your life, the more there is in life to celebrate -Oprah Winfrey.
I'm totally moved by this quote from the world's famous TV personality. A positive attitude leads a cheerful life.

I think God wants to do something through and within me. Recently, I find myself gotten overly excited about the projects I've embarked upon with 1st KL.

Last two weeks, I was inspired during a church service to conduct an intensive drill workshop for the Senior section Boys. I just think our Boys need an injection of intensive training to boost their self-confident and subsequently improve the company's drill standard.

The proposal was soon approved by the council and this training will begin this Sunday. I pray that the result of this training will be as close to the proposed objective.

The second factor to my excitement is my responsibility to prepare the Form 1 Boys in achieving their Gold Award this year. After receiving this task from my comrade last to months, I have literally done nothing till last week. Nevertheless, I believe I could work within the time frame given and able to complete the task before I leave for the States again. One of my aims this semester is to assist at least 10 Boys from 1stKL to qualify for Junior Gold Award. Wishing to see them succeed is my strongest motivation. I pray that God will make this whole process smoother and will minimize hiccups too.

As for academic progress, all three online classes are coming to their final sprint. I have done most of the assignments in advance so I could have the second half of July unoccupied. Also, next week will be the final week for my internship at Creative Thumbprint, leaving me more flexible time towards the end of July. I want to dedicate the few weeks I have to 1stKL, and also my loved ones.

OK, there goes all the wannado's for the month. Sounds overwhelming but I'll see it as blessings. Share with me if you have thoughts.

Or else, let's celebrate life together!

OMG..CLash of the titans 2! why?

Yep that is the word. People are scripting COFT 2. Who is going to battle now Perseas? Zeus himself! Stupid film. The first one was a major disappointment and its 3D such ass. damn even now it just sound stupid. A sequel. GReek mythology have so many great adventures that if you materialize them without changing the slightest bit, it would become the best blockbuster ever!

Kill me now.

Predators triumph..finally

Finally after a long time, multiple disappointments and anger, the looks-promising "Predators" was unleashed. "Predators" is the sequel which would make the fans of the first film proud. After the rather dull "Predator 2" and the horros of the AVP entries, director Nimrod Antal has done a great job. His direction has a personal stigma, something that is missing from the most productions out there

A weekend for celebration

Oh first, kudos to Spain!

They did well, winning the Cup for the first time. Well, England will come back. See you in 2014.

Anyways, what an awesome weekend! BB was fun, the Officers played volleyball with the Seniors and we had so much laughter. Its time for the games committee to get a proper net. Though it was crazy for the Juniors to run up-down-left-right with their bags along due to the church occupation of their parade ground, we enjoyed doing physical activities at the field.

The excitement didn't end there, seven of us - my bros, Chee Fei and myself - made a last minute decision to visit the 3rd Kajang company's charity concert at PJ. The concert band was impressive. Well tuned and controlled. I'm sure the audience had a night of beautiful music.

On Sunday, my parents made one of my wishes come true by getting me a new toy - Nokia 5800. It is indeed a great gadget and I played with it all night long.

Well, that was a weekend for celebration isn't it? I want to close this entry by sharing with you this Irish hymn that touches my heart so deeply.

"What's up?"

I know, I have been inactive both on my blog and Facebook recently due to my busy routine. Life has been more intense recently with the approval of my U.S. institution on my local internship.

Besides the three online classes that I have to focus on, I also need to document all my works done at Creative Thumbprint and submit at 10-page long final paper to my professor by July 30. Not forgetting the countless quizzes and writing assignments to be done week after weeks. (Now that I know taking three online classes is not cool)

Nonetheless, my days are fruitful and I thank God for friends and family who have been supporting me all the way. Also, BB has been my strongest motivation every weekend. Recently, I proposed an intensive drill workshop to be held 4 Saturdays consecutively, before I return to USA.

I know this workshop will add on to the busy schedule that is already up to my neck. Yet I think this is the every little I can contribute to 1st KL before I come back again after completing my degree.

Other wise, life is smooth sailing. The emo-ness in the family is now gone and everyone seems to be cheerful again. Back on track; I want to enjoy the most out of my everyday life. One of the ways is telling myself how good it is to wake up on-time every morning and able to meet interesting people.

I hope you guys out there are doing just as well, too. Cheers!

Forgive me for the rush, yet it's time for bed. I REALLY need the re-charge. Stay tuned, stay cool; more writings will be published timely. =)

Shrek 4: Forever after review

Just got back from a screening of Shrek 4. Since this is an animated film i will keep it really simple. Now it is as bad (boring?) as "Shrek 3"? No but it doesn't reach the level of excitement and joy of "Shrek 2" or even the first "Shrek". I guess the director of the first two had more clever gags and pop culture references in his sleeve than the latter two.It is far superior from many average

You can smell like Bruce Willis-WTF

I have nothing to declare. This pic is annoying. Would i like to smell as BW on his middle 50s?? Hmmm.....no.

Lindsay Lohan in prison! Shame.....not

Now i know that some of you may wonder why? but overall i do not post stuff about celebrities here, especially international tabloid seekers. Still i had to mention Lindsay. Why? Many reasons. First, i grow up with her films. She is actually at my age. I've seen "The Parent Trap", "Mean girls", "Freaky Friday" and i thought she was so funny and a nice down to earth young girl (and attractive one

Inception reception (lol)-looks stunning!

A) I love Leonardo DiCaprio. He has evolved into a great actor and just a pretty face. His performances in "Blood Diamond", "Catch me if you can" and "The departed" are just amazing! Now teaming up with Nolan, this sounds promising.

B) I love the concept. Dreams, subconcious i love every part of these stuff.

C) Trailer looks spectacularly promising.

D) It has Joseph Gordon Lewitt in it which

New photo from Conan...the model

Woa! I am impressed. What do you do when you want to reboot one of the most beloved mythological characters of all time? You just hire Jason Momoa as the awesome "Conan". Look at this photo and tell me what do you think. I am curious to hear our comments. Robert E. Howard is one of the most famous authors of all tiem. He created Conan and of course my personal favorite, Solomon Kane. Then he went

Scream 4-what's going on?

As i mentioned with a previous post, "Scream 4" started rolling cameras on 28th of June. Everything looked promising, the same team behind one and two was back and horror fans were uber-satisfied. The happiness didn't last for long though as rumours surfaced about contant differences between the studio and the creative team. In addition one actress has already quited (? or left?) the set due to

Titanic coming in 3D in april 2012? Dow e really need it?

Yes that is the tagline. Do we really need 'Titanic' in 3D? DO WE? What's the point? The effects are not something extraordinary or magnificent, the story sucks ass and the performances are just dreadfull*. James Cameron apparently has a different opinion (what do you expect) and thought the audience will devour it (again) the way they did with 'Avatar'.
But think about it. 3D is only good with

The Criteria for Happiness

There wasn't much smiles in the house recently. In today's term, feeling EMO.

I feel there's a need to lighten up people's emotions. Joy is very infectious, you will feel delighted especially when you have someone giggling around.

So what exactly is/are the criteria to be happy, then?

There are so many things that we as human beings crave for: a warm and fuzzy family, a nice sports car and an adorable harsh puppy. Where exactly is the bar for achieving happiness?

The Chinese says, be satisfied in life and be happy always. I find it true.

It is the GREED in all human beings that chased away happiness.

When we have a warm and fuzzy family, we hope we can be richer;
when we have a nice sports car, we hope we have a very nice sports car and a driver;
and when we have an adorable harsh puppy, we hope we can have another adorable harsh puppy that isn't always hungry and preferably, toilet-trained.

Most of us are not satisfied with what we already have in life. "More than" is what we always run after.

However, while we are busy running after these "more than's", haven't we forgotten the people and things that we have taken granted for.

Try looking around, and count your blessings.

Thank God that you have a '92 Toyota that sends you to work everyday, instead of taking the public transport;
Thank God that you have a family of three that adds some life to the four walls at home;
And thank God for the 2 mixed breed puppies in your cage that, at least, help you to guard your gates when you're away from home.

At this point of writing, I realized that the measurement for happiness lies within the individuals.

It's whether you choose to view it as "half filled" or "half empty" glasses.

Let's try to simplify life. Slow down you pace and look around for amazing creations. You'll soon find that it is not so complicated after all.

Ask ourselves: Why do we go to school or work? What do we want to achieve at the end of the day?

I hope you find your answers.

Movie Review: Knight and Day

Summer is always the best time to sit back and enjoy a film about charisma and on-screen chemistry, over some gun fire.

“Knight and Day” follows the old-fashioned adventure of Roy Miller (Tom Cruise), whose real name is Knight, and June Havens (Cameron Diaz).

Roy is a super agent who wants to secure Simon Feck (Paul Dano), the inventor of an everlasting battery called the Zephyr. June accidentally bumped into Roy in the airport as she prepares to fly home to attend her sister’s wedding. Roy’s enemy, Agent Fitzgerald (Peter Saarsgard), thought that June is working together with Roy and thus planned an airplane attacked.

The chaotic fight in the plane caused Roy to kill the pilots accidentally. A plane crash then followed at a large cornfield in Kansas.

Before sending June home, Roy reminded her not to reveal her relationship with him and to stay away from any strange officials and vehicles. June woke up in her bed the next day and attended her sister’s dress fitting. She was then confronted by a group of men who identified themselves as the intelligence agents. Roy came in to the scene to rescue June from her captivation and the situation breaks into a gunfight, in which Roy killed a number of the agents. June found a chance to flee to her boyfriend, Rodney (Marc Blucas), a firefighter.

Roy found her in the fire station. He handcuffed her and shot Rodney in a specific non-vital area. Roy also told him that this would all make him a hero and virtually guarantee his promotion to lieutenant. Roy tried his best to explain to June that she will be safer if she stays with him.

June finally decided to follow Roy and they headed to look for Simon at his safe house. They found that Simon was gone after arriving there and they were confronted by a bunch of armed fighters belonging to Antonio (Jordi Mollà), a Spanish arms dealer.

June was drugged and drifted in and out of consciousness between their capture and escape from Antonio's men, and Miller brings her to an island that is off the grid, which Miller uses as a safe house. June then woke in the island and received a phone call from her sister’s number. They were then located by the CIA.

After being knocked out again, June was brought onto a train to Alps and met Simon there, as well as an assassin. An interesting fight followed and a train killed the assassin in the end.

The three of them arrived in a hotel in Spain and Roy left for dinner with mysteriously beautiful women. June thought that Roy was going to sell the battery.

After a confrontation with the CIA agents, June decided to bring the CIA agents to Roy by clicking a pen that transmits notification. After leading the CIA agents on a chase, Miller is apparently shot and falls into a river.

Upon returning home, June remembered the address indicated on Roy’s iPhone. She found his parents living there and got to know Roy’s real name as Matthew Knight. June then self-recorded a message saying that she has the Zephyr with her. She was soon caught by Antonio’s men. She is drugged with truth serum (which turn out to be more like a sex arousal) before being rescued by Roy, who was tracking Fitzgerald, who was delivering Simon to Antonio.

While chasing Fitzgerald, Roy saves Simon from a gunshot. He handed the battery to Fitzgerald who fled with a helicopter. Simon said that Zephyr was actually a failure and an explosion follows in the air. Roy collapsed and was sent to the hospital. June managed to bring him out from the hospital and drives away with the rebuilt GTO.

After Roy wakes up asking what day it is, June kisses him and says it's someday. This is a reference from the start of the movie that they both have things they want to do someday, and June begins to drive towards Cape Horn.

Some critics said this movie is the kind of thing that was big 20 years ago but has been going out of fashion for a while and there's a whiff of desperation about the whole thing. Audience may be expecting more actions and fighting from the movie rather than the flirting of two stars on the screen.

Not because of the quality of the movie itself, but just the kind of film it is, there was some parts that were done over exaggerated such as drugging June for about four times. Some say Tom Cruise could have done a better job instead of leaving behind a legacy that swings in between Johnny Depp's Captain Jack Sparrow or Robert Downey Jr.'s Iron Man, each enhancing the other.

Overall, “Knight and Day” wants to do that, but they were not there, yet.

This is the new spiderman

Oh my god. Besides having survived the tragedy of ""Spiderman 3" with an emo Peter Parker, now i have to endure this??? Mark Webb's ("500 days of summer") new spiderman after a worldwide search is: uk Andrew Garfield (nice name), an unknwon in U.S but more popular here in U.K. He even won the Bafta orange award for best new actor back in 2008. Sorry he looks awful and boring. And he is english!

Get him to the greek-Thumbs up!

I really wanted to see "Get him to the greek"  mainly because of Russell Brand. I am such a huge fan of his humour and his face screams comedy! Now what was my reaction? Well, let's just say i had a great time! The good thing is this is Brand's film. Nobody's else. We want to see his looney character doing looney things and piss people off. Period. This is his vessell to a wider audience and to
